The best capsule hotel in old manila

Manila is not the easiest place to love for a first timer. yes you heard or read the stories, there are parts of manila that can be challenging for first timers. But like most tourists or first timers, finding the right accomodation may not be the easiest task. and if youre in the old part of town...meaning "old manila"things can be a little bit on the interesting side....yes this part of the country's capital can be quite unsmoothed on the edges but it does have its charms.

And for those on a budget especially backpackers who have a day or two to spent in manila before they move on to other destinations in the country or outside, a hostel is the cheapest value accomodation and manila has its share of acceptable hostels for the budget traveler. The capsule hostel is the current trend in the tourist industry and why not? its cheap without being uncomfortable and who needs an expensive room when youre mostly outside your room or you just need a place to crash for atleast 6hours of sleep? I have tried TAMBAYAN CAPSULE HOSTEL in manila and its one of the cleanest and comfy accomodation ive experienced in this bracket.

The hostel screams old world charm without being intimidating, this once old mansion in the malate district is transformed into a resto bar hostel and its location is hard to beat.

the shared rooms are airconditioned and each "capsule" bed is equipped with a fan, electrical outlets and its own lightings and yes curtains for your privacy. Shared bathrooms with hot shower are available and they also have locker cabinets to keep your valuables make sure you got your own locks for safe storage.

the hostel  has a pantry on the groundfloor which offers coffee, juices and bread with spreads for breakfast and they have their own cafeteria which serves popular dishes and a nightly bar with a band in the evenings. A smoking area is provided just outside the door of their cafeteria.

This capsule hostel is strategically located near the US embassy by taxi, the elevated trains LRT is a mere 10minute walk from the hostel and just a quick walk is manila's most posh mall, the robinsons place mall where you can buy anything and everything at your convenience. The mall houses restos, a supermarket and cinemas and in five minutes is the famous manila bay sunset along roxas boulevard.  The historical place intramuros is one jeepney ride away and if youre adventurous you can also visit the world's oldest chinatown and the busy hawkers shopping district of divisoria. Ride a divisoria bound jeepney and youre transported to the city's busiest parts.
